The Estare project grew out of a cooperation between Dafi Sapunar- Video artist, and Yafit Reuveny - sound artist. two women exploring their identity, their motherhood, the genetic and cultural baggage that they carry and the collective memory echoing through them.

Through the investigation of myths, symbols, traditions and historical female figures, the  removal of layers of cultural contexts, both present day and ancient,  we seek to uncover an additional face to the familiar female narrative - to shine a light on a face lost in the present.

We see the artistic expression as a means to research identity, and as an invitation to develop a discourse that allows the extending the concepts of femininity and humanity, of narratives, and of memory. A discourse which confronts restrictive inner voices and allows the autonomy to create a new feminine myth.
